A Colourful day!


I have had a fab day on Saturday as I went to the Ruskin Mill, near Stroud, for a training on dyeing with plants.

Not only I learnt many precious tips for the project, but I also discovered the Ruskin Mill, a highly inspirational place with very fresh ideas for a different education.

I will surely report this to the farm as food for thoughts on a new education centre in the making.

You can come and see me at the farm on Wednesday as I will be testing more shades of red using english grown madder mixed with a few secret ingredients!

I will light a few fires and prepare many vats with different mixes so if you fancy abit of fresh air and hard work, I surely could do with help between 10am and 3pm.

I have set up a colour sample board in the education room for you to follow the progress of my experiments.I am still to find the best shade of red for the piece.

I am looking for the eprfect "Turkey Red" so if you know any tips on how to get it, please feed in this blog.

Great day at the farm today! A team of volunteers is starting to build up and the project is moving forward. After a long day of work in the field, I just wanted to add a few dates to the calendar; Tuesday 6th, I am sorry, I will not be at the shed as I am moving out of my studio. Open Farm Sunday, 12th of June, River Bourne Community Farm!

Here it is! Time for the biggest day of the year for the farm and we all have been working flat out to get everything ready! I will have a drop in workshop, prints and postcards for sale, a planner for workshops and hands on days, and more infromation and updates on the progres. If you wish to volunteer to take part in the project, This is the time now! Help is now coming my way and I am feeling a lot more positive about the project; From doing my Free Cycle request for me to assisting during workshops and prep, people are starting to show interest. I will publish a planner of hands on days on this blog from next week onwards so we can start getting some proper work done. Watch this space for new dates to come and wash some fleece , plant madder and dye with madder , and a lot more workshops to brush up your skills or entertain your kids for the summer.
